For myself, I receive acupuncture monthly as a way to reset. I have been doing this for over 16 years. I know how much my body needs the needles and quiet time. However, I can’t just do self-care monthly. I occasionally get a massage, but I only have them focus on my upper back and neck. I am starting to add in reflexology into my schedule as well. As you can imagine, sometimes it is hard to find someone you trust to provide you with the service you provide others. I started to think about what I do for self-care and came up with a list.
I hydrate with water; drink coffee after drinking water; lift weights; talk with friends; find alone time; cook; take pictures; water flowers; care for my plants; listen to pod casts; take long showers; Epsom salt baths; sit reclined with legs elevated; rest when my body needs it; go to bed by 1030pm; chiropractic care; meditate; use candles; enjoy sunshine; listen to music; make sure to not over-schedule myself; give myself time to get places so that I am not stressed or rushed.
Self-care is about filling your bucket when the world around you works to deplete it. Self-care does not have to be a grandiose action, but it needs to consistent. Creating those daily habits of self-care mean that you can do more, even when you energetically have less because you are not fully depleted. Once you hit full depletion, that is when we often find dis-ease.
The most important part is to include self-care routine in your life daily. What are you going to include to your routine?
